Evolving home in Dhanmondi

In a city growing denser by the day, the idea of a home is changing. A well-designed residence is no longer defined only by its interiors, but by how it creates space for privacy, wellness, community and connection with the world around it. In Dhanmondi, where the lake remains one of the neighbourhood’s defining features, this shift takes on a particular character. As the neighbourhood evolves, the value of residential living lies increasingly beyond the apartment walls. It's found in the quality of its surroundings, the spaces to pause and connect and its relationship with everyday life.

At the centre of this evolving idea of home is Shanta, whose residential projects look beyond architecture to consider how thoughtful design can shape everyday experiences. Its approach brings together thoughtfully spaces, wellness, community and a connection with the surrounding environment, with each project responding to its own location and context. In Dhanmondi, Shanta offers one of the finest collections of residences, designed to cater to every lifestyle demand.

The philosophy takes different forms across Moin’s Harbour, Shalmolee and Orchard. While the first two draw directly from their lakeside settings, Orchard creates its own sense of openness within a more central urban environment.

Living by the lake

Moin’s Harbour and Shalmolee share the advantage of lakeside settings but their surroundings shape different experiences.

Set on Road 5/A, Moin’s Harbour occupies a south-facing lakeside plot overlooking the lake to the north, in a tranquil, dead-end setting. Its 20 apartments are designed to maintain mutual privacy, while panoramic lake views from every apartment create a direct connection with the surroundings.

Here, privacy was conceived as an integral part of the planning. Designed by architect Nahas Ahmed Khalil, the development distinguishes private residences from shared areas, creating a quieter, more comfortable environment while preserving a sense of exclusivity. Large windows, generous openings and layered balconies bring natural light, ventilation and views into the homes while supporting privacy and comfortable, well-connected spaces.

The experience extends through a grand double-height entrance, professionally landscaped spaces and areas for wellness and social interaction. An infinity pool, fitness centre, party lounge and BBQ zone provide opportunities to relax, pursue wellness and gather. Together, these elements are intended to offer the experience of a private retreat within the city.

Shalmolee, located beside the lake on Road 6/A, responds to a more active surrounding environment. Rather than separating itself entirely from the energy of Dhanmondi, its planning creates a quieter, more inward sense of living. Its orientation, openness and landscaped environment help make the transition from neighbourhood to home feel natural.

Its spaces reflect the varied routines of contemporary families. The rooftop pool and outdoor deck offer relaxation, while the fitness centre, billiard room and children’s play area accommodate different interests and generations. Shared spaces also encourage informal interaction and gatherings. The aim for Shanta is not simply to provide amenities, but to create a community that accommodates different lifestyles while fostering a sense of belonging.

A connected urban setting

Orchard carries the same broader philosophy into a different setting. Unlike the two lakeside projects, it does not rely on a direct relationship with the lake. Its identity is instead shaped by its convenient, well-connected position in Dhanmondi.

Located on Road 4, its north-facing orientation, generous openings and landscaped spaces bring light, air and greenery into the living experience. Its proximity to an open field extends the sense of openness beyond the development and provides opportunities for outdoor activities. Easy access to the main road adds to everyday connectivity, while nearby hospitals, schools and other facilities support the convenience of its location.

Within the development, lifestyle amenities complement this setting, creating a relaxed residential environment that balances comfort, openness and urban convenience.

Nature as part of everyday life

Across these all three projects, landscaping, lighting and water features are treated as integral to the design. As Dhaka grows denser, access to green and open space matters more than ever.

The intention is not simply visual appeal, but to create places where residents can see, feel and experience nature as part of everyday life. These elements are composed are composed alongside the buildings to shape views, movement and moments of pause.

In a market where "luxury" is widely used, Shanta places greater emphasis on the thought and execution behind a project. This includes high-quality materials, generous layouts, architectural excellence, superior craftsmanship, quality construction and meticulous attention to detail, each shaped to the particularities of its site.

Defining quality beyond amenities

According to Shanta, a premium development should be more than an expensive home or a long list of amenities. Its value should extend beyond the individual residence through thoughtfully planned shared spaces and an environment that supports a high quality of life.

That perspective is also reflected in the growing importance of wellness, recreation, social interaction, security and everyday convenience. These are increasingly becoming fundamental expectations but their value depends on how purposefully they are planned, executed and maintained.

Taken together, Moin’s Harbour, Shalmolee and Orchard reflect a shift towards a more complete way of living. Each responds differently to its setting, but all are driven by the same core idea: shaping the everyday experience of living there, not just where.

For Shanta, what differentiates its approach is not simply offering more but creating greater value through intelligent planning, purposeful design, quality execution and a deeper understanding of how people live.
