Yet, his family reveals a painful truth—despite the enduring popularity of his songs, they have yet to receive any royalties from his extensive filmography.

Lionsgate has procured the rights to release "Hurry Up Tomorrow," a much-anticipated musically-driven psychological thriller, in theatres worldwide. Starring Abel Tesfaye, widely recognised as The Weeknd, along with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, the film is set to be directed by Trey Edward Shults, acclaimed for his previous film "Waves".

Set in the fictional hill station of Devipur, the Shashanka Chaturvedi directorial “Do Patti” tells the story of twin sisters Saumya and Shailee (featuring Kriti Sanon), whose strained relationship is compounded by a shared connection to Dhruv Sood (played by Shaheer Sheikh), a wealthy businessman with a violent streak. Saumya, the more docile sister, becomes Dhruv’s wife and soon faces the horrors of domestic violence, while Shailee, the flamboyant and rebellious twin, harbours a deep jealousy toward her sister.

Unsurprisingly, the film’s directors, Ron Clements and John Musker, are white, and it is almost as if “whiteness” prevents artistes, such as film directors, from portraying the non-white peoples with a non-colonial lens.
